In this watercolour study, an ascetic is seated reading in a deep concentration, with a water pot perched next to him. He is dressed traditionally in a saffron turban, dhoti and a cloth on his shoulders, and strings of rudraksh beads. He seems to be present on the steps of a ghat near a river in an ancient holy city, as suggested by the architecture in the backdrop.
